Canton Fair & Trade Show Advisory

The Canton Fair has 26,000+ exhibitors across three phases and a floor plan the size of a small city. Walking in without a plan wastes the two or three days you actually have.

The China Import and Export Fair — universally called the Canton Fair — runs twice a year in Guangzhou, split into three phases by product category: Phase 1 covers electronics, machinery, and vehicles; Phase 2 covers consumer goods, home decor, and gifts; Phase 3 covers textiles, apparel, and health products. Each phase runs roughly five days. First-time attendees consistently make the same mistake — they treat it as a single event to "see," when it's actually a compressed negotiation window that needs a target list before you land.

VIAQEX runs Canton Fair and Yiwu Fair advisory as a distinct engagement from ongoing sourcing, because the constraints are different: you have a fixed number of days on the ground, a specific set of booths worth visiting, and (often) a language and cultural-negotiation gap that costs real money if handled badly. We close that gap before you fly and stay with you while you're there.

Before you fly: the pre-fair brief

Two to three weeks out, we build a booth shortlist matched to your product and target price band, pulled from the official exhibitor catalogue rather than a generic "top suppliers" list. Each shortlist entry comes with the hall and booth number, what to check when you get there, and opening questions calibrated to that supplier's likely position (factory-direct vs. trading company, premium vs. volume player). We also handle the practical logistics that trip up first-timers: M-visa documentation, hotel proximity to the Pazhou complex, and a day-by-day walking route so you're not crossing the same 1.2-million-square-metre complex back and forth.

On the ground: interpretation that understands sourcing, not just language

A general interpreter translates words. A sourcing interpreter knows to ask about minimum order quantity before price, to recognise when a "factory" answer is evasive, and to read the room during a price negotiation. Where you want it, we provide advisory partners physically present in Guangzhou during the fair — not just live WhatsApp support from a desk, but someone who has walked Pazhou before and knows which halls reward a second pass.

For buyers sourcing small-commodity categories — jewellery, accessories, stationery, small hardware, festive and gifting items — we extend the same advisory to the Yiwu Fair, timed so you can cover both events on a single trip; Yiwu's smaller-lot culture also suits importers testing a category before committing to container volumes.

After you land back in India

The fair ends the discovery phase, not the transaction. We carry every booth you shortlisted into formal supplier verification, sample coordination, and negotiation follow-up — so the business cards in your bag turn into purchase orders instead of a folder you never open again.

04

Post-fair follow-up

Every promising booth is carried into formal verification and sample coordination, so momentum doesn't die the week you land back in India.

Frequently asked questions

When are the Canton Fair phases held? +

The fair runs twice yearly (spring and autumn), with Phase 1, 2, and 3 running back-to-back across roughly two and a half weeks each season. We confirm exact current-season dates as part of the brief, since scheduling shifts slightly year to year.

Do I need to attend in person, or can VIAQEX represent me? +

Both models work. First-time importers usually get more long-term value from attending in person with our support, since it builds direct supplier relationships; repeat clients often have us represent their shortlist and report back.

What does an M-visa for the fair actually require? +

An invitation letter (which exhibitors or fair organisers can issue), a cover letter stating business purpose, and standard visa documentation. We manage the invitation-letter request and full application paperwork as part of this service.

Is Yiwu Fair different from Canton Fair? +

Yes — Yiwu focuses on small commodities at much lower minimum order quantities, and is timed to overlap with a Canton Fair gap so buyers can cover both in one trip.
